Tumblr Post ( ask-shaman-king-fandomstuck.tu… )

Sceptile - the Forest Pokemon. Post 1/?? of theoretical mega evolution drawings, speculation and analysis in anticipation of the upcoming Ruby/Sapphire remakes.

Base Stats

HP - 70

Attack - 85

Defense - 65

Special Attack - 105

Special Defense - 85

Speed - 120

With a base stat total of 530, Sceptile on his own is a formidable opponent. His main focuses are Special Attack and Speed, but the problem with this is most of the attacks in his movepool are physical, like his signature move Leaf Blade, so him as a special attacker leaves few moveset options.

To fix this, and make him more versatile, I suggest that if he Mega Evolves, his base stat total be raised to 600 to at least rival Mega Blaziken’s stat increase. These extra 70 points should be used to help balance his Attack with his Special Attack so he can be used as a mixed attacker.

Theoretical/Hopeful Base Stats After Mega Evolution

HP - 70

Attack - 115 (+30)

Defense - 85 (+20)

Special Attack - 115 (+10)

Special Defense - 85

Speed - 130 (+10)

With these stat increases, players could utilize his wide variety of Physical moves, or still use him as a Special Attacker if they wanted. Either would work just as well.

For a Special Attack focused Sceptile, you could always have Energy Ball, Dragon Breath, Detect (to scout out moves), and Focus Blast. There isn’t too much to do with this one though, but with the paralysis chance that Dragon Breath provides and the coverage of both that and the high-damaging Focus Blast I think it’s a solid moveset.

The Physically focused side of Sceptile has a whole LOT more options when it comes to moves. Two moves you should always have, though, are Swords Dance (or Power-Up Punch for more coverage) and Leaf Blade. From there, you should get Thunder Punch for coverage, and X-Scissor or Night Slash to hit a broad range of opponents for massive damage and have a chance at those crits.

The Ability I think fits best with this Mega of the Forest Pokemon would have to be Infiltrator. Sceptile is not bulky by any means, and is meant more to be fast and hit hard, but Light Screen and Reflect can weaken that power significantly. With Infiltrator, this is no longer an issue. It’ll also force your opponents to think a little differently with their darn Klefkis or other things that are more meant to set up screens to protect the team from damage.
